PSS200 Total Suspended Solids/ TSS/ MLSS Meter for Industrial/Environmental Wastewater Treatment
Introduction
The PSS200 is an online analyzer that measures suspended solids and sludge concentrations using an infrared absorption and scattered light method in accordance with the ISO 7027 standard. This method reduces the influence of color (chroma) and other interfering factors, enabling consistent and precise detection of suspended solids over a wide range.
Built for continuous operation, the meter combines robust construction with flexible communication and output options, enabling integration into automated control systems such as PLC, DCS, and SCADA. Its user-friendly interface and self-diagnostic capabilities help ensure that operators receive dependable real-time data with minimal maintenance effort.
Working principle
How Infrared Scattered Light Measurement Works
The PSS200 employs an optical sensing method based on infrared absorption and double-scattered light:
-
Infrared Illumination: An infrared light source emits energy into the liquid medium, which interacts with suspended particles and sludge.
-
Scattered Light Detection: Particles in the water scatter the infrared light in multiple directions. The meter’s optical sensor measures this scattered light intensity, which correlates with the concentration of suspended solids.
-
Signal Processing: The detected optical signal is converted into an electrical output that represents the concentration of suspended solids. The system then communicates this value via analog or digital outputs for monitoring and control purposes.
By following the ISO 7027 methodology, the suspended solids meter minimizes interference from water color and provides stable, accurate data essential for process automation and water quality control.
