DP Ultrasonic Level Transmitter: Non-Contact Level Measurement for Large Tanks and Open Environments/7410/8520
Introduction
The DP is a long-range ultrasonic level transmitter with multiple configurable ranges from 5 m to 50 m, making it suitable for both standard and large-scale applications. It operates with approximately ±1% FS measurement accuracy, reflecting a deliberate engineering trade-off: prioritizing measurement distance and signal robustness over high-precision short-range accuracy.
The device includes a variable blind zone (≈0.3 m to 2.5 m depending on range), which increases with measurement distance—a typical characteristic of long-range ultrasonic systems. It supports both two-wire and four-wire 4–20 mA outputs, along with relay outputs, enabling integration into conventional control systems as well as standalone monitoring setups. With low power consumption (<1.5W) and standard industrial protection (IP65), the SUP-DP is suitable for continuous field operation across a wide range of environments.

Working principle
The DP uses ultrasonic time-of-flight measurement, optimized for long-distance signal transmission. The sensor emits a high-frequency ultrasonic pulse toward the material surface. The reflected signal is received and processed to calculate distance:
Distance = (Sound velocity × Time delay) ÷ 2
At longer ranges, signal attenuation becomes a key issue. The SUP-DP addresses this through:
- Stronger transmitted pulse energy
- Signal processing tuned for long-distance echo recognition
- Adaptive measurement across different range configurations
Compared to short-range models, the emphasis here is not on ultra-fine resolution, but on reliable echo detection over extended distances.

Key features
The DP level calculating device is engineered around range capability, structural flexibility, and stable output, rather than precision-focused measurement.
- Extended Measurement Range (Up to 50 m): Designed for large tanks, reservoirs, and open spaces where standard ultrasonic transmitters cannot reach.
- Multiple Range Configurations (5–50 m): Flexible selection allows the same product series to adapt to different project scales.
- Dual Output Modes (2-wire / 4-wire 4–20 mA): Supports both loop-powered systems and independent powered installations.
- Relay Outputs for Alarm or Control: Integrated relay outputs enable direct high/low-level control without additional controllers.
- Wide Power Supply Options: Supports 24V DC and optional 220V AC, making it suitable for different site conditions.
- Industrial Temperature Tolerance: Operates reliably in environments from -20°C to +80°C (probe).
- Low Power Consumption: Designed for continuous operation with minimal energy usage (<1.5W).
